We are a small company in the California high desert, and we think the Moon belongs to all of humanity.
The Joshua Tree Crater Company is part of ExplOrbit. We started here, in the high desert, where the sky is still dark enough that a child can look up and understand, without anyone explaining it, that the universe is very large and they are part of it.
The Moon belongs to all of humanity
It is the one object every human being who has ever lived has shared. The same face, from every country, in every century. No one owns it. No one should. What we sell is not a piece of the Moon, and we are careful to say so on every page: it is a dedication, a name written down and kept, a reason to go outside and find the spot with your own eyes.
Fragile, and older than everything
The Moon has no atmosphere to heal it. Every crater is a record that has sat undisturbed for hundreds of millions of years, a geological archive of the early solar system that Earth itself lost to weather and tectonics long ago. A single footprint in that dust outlasts nations. As traffic to the lunar surface grows, the case for treating it carefully stops being sentimental and starts being scientific.
Explore, discover, learn, protect
Those four words are printed on everything we make, in that order, because that is the order it happens in. People explore what is in front of them, discover something worth knowing, learn enough to care, and protect what they have come to love. Naming a crater is the smallest possible first step on that path, and we have watched it work on adults as often as children.
